A leading beverage manufacturing company based in the Johannesburg is seeking an experienced and qualified SHE Officer to join their team!
Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Safety Management
SAMTRAC Certificate
Risk management experience
Sound knowledge of Safety Legislations, Standards and Regulations
2 - 5 years' experience within Construction or Engineering Industry
Responsible and accountable for the maintaining the company a safe workplace environment without risk to health and ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
Effectively planning, leading, organizing and controlling the business unit in general to ensure maximum control optimizing Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and optimize assets and people allocation in the maintenance department.
Implementation Healthy and Safety
Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
Support the development of OHS policies and programs
Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives
Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claims
Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.
Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks. Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
Safety Committees
Manage and devise the agenda for, chair and formulate & distribute minutes for the Health &
Safety Committee meetings
Ensure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
Establish a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company.
Liaise with external health & safety consultants in the provision of training programmes and health and safety services.
Management Reporting
Provide regular reports to the Human Resources Manager, Board of Directors/Senior Management
Team on relevant health and safety activities.
Participate in monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters.
Liaise with suppliers i.e. Insurers, solicitors etc
